Indian popular singing reality show Indian Idol season 6 title had been grabbed by Vipul Mehta from Amritsur Punjab in Grand finale telecast in 1st September 2012, Saturday night. Special guest Kareena Kapoor and Director Madhaur Bhandarkar revealed the winner in Grand finale episode. Madhur and Kareena reached in India idol finale sets to promote their upcoming movie "Heroien". Before that "Barfi" team Ranvir Kapoor, Illeana and Priyanka Chopra also appeared in Finale to promote their movie.
In finale Vipul defeated his two strong contenders, Devendra Sing (Chote Sardarji) & Amit Kumar in the final to win the title of Indian Idol. Interesting thing was Vipul Mehta also participated in singing reality show voice of India season 2 in 2008 but couldn't make it on final three.
Winning the title Vipul received winner's trophy along with 50 thousand cash from Sony, A brand new Nissan Micra Car, 1 Suzuki Hayate Bike, 3 lakh from Max Life Insurance and a contract to record his own music album. This time voting pattern was change where 50% vote by audience and 50% shared by Judges Sunidhi Chauhan, Anu Mallik, Salim Merchant and Asha Bhosle. Previously from season 1-5 Indian Idols was chosen by 100% public choice vote.
