Celebrating Bhoto Jatra Festival today in Kathmandu. Government declared the public holiday in Kathmandu to observed the festival. President Ram Baran Yadav and High Ranking government official is present to mark the festival. Living goddess Kumari of Lalitpur also present in occasion to mark the festival. Thousands of devotees across the county took part in this festival.
After a month long procession of chariot (Rath) of Rato Machhendra Nath in different part of Lalitpur. At the end of this festival chariot will towed to Jawlakhel to Mark the Bhoto Jatra Festival.
Myth of bhoto jatra festivaL
according to Historical Statement Nag Raj Karkota rewarded this jeweled vest to farmer after successful treatment of eye problem of his wife by the farmer. But vest had been stolen during one summer while farmer was busy working in his farm at the time when he wear off his vest and keep aside after filling hot.
After some time when the farmer was attending Machchindranath festival at Jawalakhel, he saw someone wearing the same vest. A clash took place between the farmer and the man wearing the vest. After that they came to Machchindranath for final judgment for the ownership of Jeweled Vest.
Then Machchendranath came in conclusion that who will bring the evidence to prove the ownership of that jeweled vest he will get that vest.
From that day it is believe that Jeweled vest (Bhoto) is showed to public to clam the ownership but till now no body have sufficient evidence to claim the right of that Bhoto.
