World's Largest "Thanka" painting is currently in
display for public in Dasrath Stadium, Kathmandu.
This Thanka was possible when more than 10,000 volunteer
painters from 16 different nations join their hand for 8 years of hard work in Japan. Thanka
is 70 m (Height) and 50 m (wide) and 100
kg in weight. Painting depicting 12 important life history of Lord Gautam Buddha. In Dasrath Stadium size is about the full of our football ground one goal post to another.(see pictures)
Thanka exhibition was inaugurated by Pri Minister Baburam
Bhattarai earlier today and will be open free for public for 2 days (5-6 Oct,
2012) and then next exhibition is said
to be in Thailand.
